Start where you are.

You don't have to have everything figured out.

Smiling students in a school hallway making peace signs

Build skills for handling the hard stuff, discover what makes you unique and stronger, play, create, and find ways to do something that matters.

Wherever you are, you can grow

Life can feel complicated, and exciting at the same time.

Maybe your mind won't slow down. Maybe something someone said is still bothering you. Maybe you're angry, stressed, left out, stuck, or you don't even know what you're feeling.

Maybe you want to make friends and you don't know how.

Or maybe things are mostly okay, but you feel there could be more—you want to understand yourself better, grow, try new things, and experience life more fully.

You don't have to know all the answers.

Understanding yourself, handling difficult moments, building confidence, creating stronger relationships, and figuring out what matters to you are skills.

And skills can be learned.

What you actually get

  1. A smiling student making a heart shape with her hands Ways to reset when everything feels like too much.
  2. Students at a table drawing what they feel Tools to understand what you're feeling, what's behind it, and what you need.
  3. Words and strategies for handling conflict, setting boundaries, and speaking up when something isn't right.
  4. Students and a facilitator stacking their hands together in a huddle Ways to build confidence, connect better with people, and strengthen your relationships.
  5. Students sitting on a classroom rug, building a web of yarn together Strategies for getting back up, adapting, and moving forward when things don't go as planned.
  6. A student holding up the detailed eye she drew Space to discover your strengths, what matters to you, and what you want to do with it.
  7. Students and a facilitator drawing together on a large banner on the floor And opportunities to turn what you're learning into something positive for yourself and others.
  8. Real skills for real life.

Your journey. Your choices. Your strengths.

EsperHope™ is a story-driven video game and learning experience co-created with young people, for young people.

As you explore different themes, you'll face situations that connect with real life: emotions, stress, relationships, confidence, choices, setbacks, belonging, and finding your place.

You'll learn to notice what's happening in your body and mind, understand what you're feeling, discover your strengths, and choose what to do next.

And the journey doesn't stop inside the game. On the EsperHope website, you can go further with short lessons, activities, practices, and tools that help you explore what you've discovered in the game and use it in your everyday life.

Then, when you're ready, you can take those skills into the real world through challenges and Solidarity Missions that give you opportunities to act, contribute, and make a difference.

The Foundations Phase

  1. Step 1

    Feel safe, know yourself

Together, we make the group a place where everyone feels safe and respected. You learn to notice your emotions and what your body is telling you, and to spot your own strengths.

    Outcomes

    • Understand your feelings and express them more easily
    • Feel more confident in who you are
    • Be part of a group where you feel safe and trusted
  2. Step 2

    Understand your brain

Stress can push your brain into survival mode, which makes it harder to focus, remember, and stay in control. You learn how that works, how to catch the voice in your head when it’s being harsh, and how to talk to yourself in a way that actually helps. So when something sets you off, you can pause and choose your next move.

    Outcomes

    • Understand how stress affects the way you learn and act
    • Catch unhelpful self-talk and turn it around
    • Build habits that help you focus, keep going, and grow
  3. Step 3

    Calm down, bounce back

Stress is normal. You learn quick tools to calm your body and get your focus back, in class, at home, or in the middle of an argument. Then you build your own plan for handling hard moments and adapting when things change.

    Outcomes

    • Calm down and recover faster after stress
    • Adapt and solve problems under pressure
    • Stay focused and involved in class
  4. Step 4

    Connect and communicate

Listening, empathy, setting boundaries, speaking respectfully, and making things right after a conflict. You learn how small misunderstandings turn into big ones, and how to cool things down with clear, kind words. You practice through low-pressure role play.

    Outcomes

    • Listen well and understand others better
    • Handle conflict and repair relationships
    • Set boundaries and speak up respectfully
  5. Step 5

    Belong together

Your group decides what matters most, like respect, kindness, responsibility, and fairness, and what that looks like in action, especially when things get hard. Everyone has a way to contribute, and the whole group grows stronger.

    Outcomes

    • Feel like you belong
    • Work well as part of a team
    • Help make your group a respectful, supportive place
  6. Step 6

    Find your purpose

What kind of person do you want to be? You see how small everyday actions build hope, and you find a way to make a positive difference in your school or community.

    Outcomes

    • Feel more hopeful about your future
    • Lead in ways that help others
    • Make a plan, take action, and follow through

What is a Be Peace – Be Hope experience actually like?

Definitely not another lecture.

You might check in with how you're feeling.

  • Breathe
  • Move
  • Draw
  • Create
  • Play a game
  • Solve a challenge
  • Learn something surprising about your brain
  • Practice what you could say in a difficult situation
  • Work on an idea with other people
Students lying on the floor together, coloring a large drawing of a tree

Sometimes you'll talk. Sometimes you'll reflect quietly. Sometimes you'll create something that helps you understand yourself in a new way. Sometimes you'll practice a skill before you need it in real life. And sometimes you'll take what you've learned and use it to make a difference for yourself, someone else, or your community.

You never have to share something personal you don't want to share.

You get to participate, explore, and grow in a way that feels right for you.

Do something with it

What if what you learn could help someone else too?

You don't have to stop at learning about yourself.

You can use your ideas, creativity, voice, and skills to do something that matters.

Young people in Be Peace – Be Hope programs have created projects in their own schools and communities—from speaking up about bullying to creating messages of hope for people going through difficult times.

Through EsperHope and our Solidarity Missions, you can also discover projects led by young people in other places and become part of something bigger.

  1. Start with one idea.
  2. Help one person.
  3. Change something around you.
  4. Then see where it grows.
Young people and facilitators gathered in front of a painted flag mural

What will you start?

Young people like you have turned one idea into murals, care packages, painted doors and spaces where people come together, right in their own neighborhoods. Every one of these projects started with someone noticing something they wanted to make better. Yours could be next.

    Dennim

“Even though I joined the program later, it was an amazing experience for me. It really helped me express my ideas and emotions more easily and boosted my creativity. The program also allowed me to open up and make new friends who were so supportive and helped me with my artwork. I truly wish everyone could have this kind of outlet, it's been incredibly helpful in my everyday life.”

    Khloe Franco

“Karine Parker with Be Peace – Be Hope continues to amaze me with her approach and methods in Social and Emotional Education and well-being. Arts are the perfect way of teaching Social and Emotional Education since Art comes from our emotional life. Karine Parker and Be Peace - Be Hope take my students on a reflective journey helping us to explore questions about what it is to be human and how we react to our given circumstances.”

    Chris Perkins

    Art teacher, Hill Elementary

“Be Peace – Be Hope has been a meaningful experience for our family. We are grateful for the care, understanding of our culture, and emotional safety the team provides. The trust we built gave us the confidence to let our children attend the leadership summer camp, including spending time away from home.”

    The Mohammadi family

    Family

“Be Peace - Be Hope has been a source of inspiration for the Hill Art Club. As a result of the partnership, Hill students have had the opportunity to merge Social & Emotional Education and Art. Our students’ ability to express themselves verbally and through their Art has been enhanced tremendously. Students are now equipped to organically incorporate mindfulness into their creative process.”

    Constance White

    Principal, Hill Elementary

“Participating in the Be Peace - Be Hope training was a deeply human experience. I learned to better understand my emotions, take care of myself, and build a more peaceful relationship with my students and colleagues. The hands-on activities and shared conversations gave me renewed hope and confidence in each person’s ability to create something positive, even in the midst of crisis. I highly recommend it to teachers, administrators, and parents: it’s a true gift we give ourselves and those around us.”

    Antoinette

    Middle school teacher

“I’ve dealt with bullying and problems and Hope and Peace were the only ones I felt I could talk to about it. Every week they would visit Mr. Perkins’ classroom and let us express ourselves. They would not let anyone make me feel like my feelings didn’t matter when they were there. I like talking to Miss Karine. She always has time for me. It was a safe space for 3 years.”

    Kevin

    Student

“I started talking to my students about the saboteurs and about their reactions during the exams. We talked about real experiences and we were able to name the reactions: avoider, stickers, hyper rational, hyper achiever... the students were so happy because when we give names to our reactions we can control them and we can also heal ourselves.”

    Youssef Bassil

    School principal

“Thank you so much for teaching me how to come back to myself. Thank you all for your precious time and continuous effort, that you for your compassion. Your words and support made a big difference in my life. Hope you live always in peace and hope. May God enlighten your ways to return as hearts as you can to him.”

“What Be Peace – Be Hope has shown me and what I have learned is that you don’t have to be friends with everyone. Showing emotion doesn’t make you weak. It takes a strong person to show emotion, especially around someone who isn’t your friend. Be kind to others in life, just how you would want to be treated. Hope and Peace have helped make me a new person.”

She was grieving the loss of her maternal grandmother, who was her best friend and had helped care for her since birth. Mila was struggling emotionally, and I could see her grief affecting how she expressed herself. Through the BPBH’s wellbeing art program at her elementary school, Mila learned to express and navigate her emotions through art rather than negative outlets. She also learned the importance of connecting with herself and being open to trusted adults like Karine and the BPBH facilitators”
