Be Peace – Be Hope Privacy Notice

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This Privacy Notice explains how Be Peace – Be Hope (“BPBH,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information through our website, bepeacebehope.org (the “Website”). Where consent is required, we request it separately.

Who we are. Be Peace – Be Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas, that provides life-skills programs for young people. We are responsible for the personal information collected through the Website.

What this notice covers. This Privacy Notice covers our Website only. It does not cover the EsperHope game and its learning hub, solidarity mission map, and ORIAN community, or the Be-Hope App. Those have their own privacy notices. Information collected through our school programs is handled under separate agreements and notices.

What personal information means. Personal information is information that identifies, or could reasonably be used to identify, a specific person. It does not include information that has been anonymized, meaning it can no longer reasonably be linked to a person, or information that has been combined into totals that do not identify anyone. Information that has been pseudonymized, such as coded responses or ID numbers that could be linked back to a person, is still personal information.

Information You Provide to Us

Contact form and newsletter. Our contact form asks for your name and email address, along with your message. Our newsletter sign-up asks for your email address.

Member accounts. If BPBH gives you a member account to access private pages, we collect the email address and password you use to sign in. Passwords are stored by our website provider.

Communications. If you contact us by email or through the Website, we keep the contents of your message and any attachments so we can respond and follow up.

Events. If you register for an event we host, we collect the information needed for the event, such as your name, email address, and organization.

Donations. Donations are processed on separate secure pages by third-party payment platforms: Stripe, Give Lively, or PayPal, depending on which donation link you use. We do not receive or store your full card number. We receive information such as your name, email address, and the amount and date of your gift, which we use to process and acknowledge your gift, send tax receipts, and keep required financial records. Each platform’s handling of your information is governed by its own privacy policy.

Job and volunteer applications. If you apply to work or volunteer with us, we collect the information you choose to send, such as your contact details, experience, and references.

Information We Collect Automatically

Device and usage information. When you visit the Website, our website provider may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, and how long you stay.

We use analytics cookies (provided by Google Analytics) only if you accept them. Cookies that are strictly necessary for the Website to work are always active. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on the Website.

reCAPTCHA. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to protect against spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and how you interact with the page and sends it to Google. Its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Embedded videos and interactive content. Some pages show videos from YouTube and may include interactive content from other providers, such as Genially. When you play or use this content, the provider may collect information about your device and set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We do not use the personal information of anyone under 18 for targeted advertising.

We share personal information only as follows:

Service providers. Companies that help us run the Website and our work, and that may use the information only to provide services to us. These include our website provider (GoDaddy), our email newsletter provider, our donation platforms (Stripe, Give Lively, and PayPal), and Google (reCAPTCHA and analytics).

Organizational changes. If BPBH merges with or transfers its activities to another organization, personal information may be transferred as part of that change, and it will remain protected as described in this notice.

With your permission. In any other case, only with your consent.

Your Choices and Rights

Cookies. You can change your cookie choice at any time by clearing the cookies for our Website in your browser settings. The cookie banner will then ask for your choice again on your next visit.

Access, correction, and deletion. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing info@bepeacebehope.org. Parents and guardians can make these requests for their child. We may need to verify your identity first, and we may keep certain information when the law requires it, such as donation records.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this notice. For example:

  • Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
  • Messages and contact form submissions: as long as needed to respond and follow up.
  • Donation records: as long as required for tax, legal, and reporting purposes.
  • Information about children: only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected for, and then securely deleted.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. We limit access to information about young people to staff and volunteers who need it for their role. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s and Young People’s Privacy

Be Peace – Be Hope exists to serve young people, and we take their privacy seriously. Our Website is for parents, guardians, educators, donors, partners, and the young people we serve. Children and teens are welcome to read and watch our content, including the Hops of Hope blog.

Children under 13. Our Website is not designed to collect personal information from children under 13, and member accounts are not available to them. We ask children under 13 not to send us personal information through the Website. As a nonprofit organization, we may not be legally required to follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), but we choose to follow its standards voluntarily. If we learn that a child under 13 has sent us personal information through the Website, we will delete it promptly.

Automatic collection. When anyone visits the Website, including a child, our website provider automatically receives basic technical information, such as IP address and browser type, which we use only to run and secure the Website. Analytics cookies are used only if a visitor accepts them in our cookie banner. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on the Website. Embedded videos and interactive content may set their own cookies when played, as described above.

Young people aged 13 to 17. If a young person aged 13 to 17 contacts us or signs up for our newsletter, we use their information only to respond or to send the newsletter. We do not sell it, use it for targeted advertising, or make it public.

Parents’ and guardians’ rights. A parent or guardian can ask to review the personal information we hold about their child, ask us to correct or delete it, and ask us to stop using it, by emailing info@bepeacebehope.org. We will take reasonable steps to confirm that the request comes from the child’s parent or guardian.

Photos, videos, and stories. We do not publish photos, videos, full names, or personal stories of anyone under 18 on our Website or social media without permission from a parent or guardian.

Visitors from the European Union

The Website is operated from the United States, and information collected through it is stored and processed in the United States. If you visit from the European Union, including France, the following also applies.

BPBH is responsible for the personal information collected through the Website. We process it based on your consent (for newsletter sign-ups and non-essential cookies), to take steps you have asked for (such as responding to your message or processing your donation), to meet legal obligations (such as keeping donation records), or for our legitimate interest in running and protecting the Website, where your rights do not override that interest. When personal information is transferred to the United States, we take steps to protect it as required by applicable law.

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (in France, the CNIL). In France, a young person under 15 may consent to online services that rely on consent only together with a parent or guardian.

The Website links to other websites and services that we do not operate, such as our donation platforms, social media, and esperhope.org. This notice does not apply to them. Please read their privacy policies.

Changes to this Privacy Notice

We will post any changes to this notice on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If we make important changes, we will add a notice on the Website. If a change affects information we hold about children, we will notify parents or guardians before using that information in a new way.
