Be Peace – Be Hope Website Terms of Use

Last updated: October 15, 2026

1. Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to your use of bepeacebehope.org and its pages, forms, newsletter, and member accounts (together, the “Website”). The Website is operated by Be Peace – Be Hope (“BPBH,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas.

By using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal information.

These Terms cover our Website only. They do not cover the EsperHope game and its learning hub, solidarity mission map, and ORIAN community, or the Be-Hope App. Those have their own terms.

2. Who may use the Website

The Website is for parents, guardians, educators, donors, volunteers, partners, and the young people we serve. Young people are welcome to read and watch our content, including the Hops of Hope blog, with these simple rules:

  • Under 13: Enjoy our stories and videos, ideally with a parent, guardian, or teacher nearby. Please do not send us personal information (such as your name or email) through the Website; ask a parent or guardian to contact us instead.
  • Ages 13 to 17: You may use the Website with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. A parent or guardian who gives permission agrees to these Terms for themselves and for the young person.
  • Students in school programs: Permission from your school covers taking part in a BPBH program at school. Any other use, such as marketing or public posting, needs permission from a parent or guardian.

If we learn that a child under 13 has sent us personal information through the Website, we will delete it, as described in our Privacy Notice.

3. Member accounts

If BPBH gives you a member account to access private pages, please give accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us right away at info@bepeacebehope.org if you think someone has used your account without permission.

Member accounts are not available to children under 13. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, puts others at risk, or belongs to a child under 13.

4. Acceptable use

BPBH is a space built on peace, care, and respect. When using the Website, you agree not to:

  • Bully, harass, threaten, or harm anyone, or share hateful, violent, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate content.
  • Share another person’s personal information, photos, or stories without their permission (or, for anyone under 18, their parent’s or guardian’s permission).
  • Contact a young person through the Website unless BPBH has authorized it and it follows BPBH’s safeguarding rules.
  • Pretend to be someone else, including BPBH staff, volunteers, or partners.
  • Send spam, advertising, or fundraising requests for other causes without our written permission.
  • Upload viruses or harmful code, try to bypass reCAPTCHA or other security features, or try to access parts of the Website you are not allowed to access.
  • Copy or collect content or data from the Website with bots, scrapers, or similar tools.
  • Use the Website in a way that breaks any law.

We may block access if we believe someone is breaking these rules or putting a young person at risk. Where a child’s safety is at risk, we may contact parents, schools, or the appropriate authorities.

5. What you send us

You keep ownership of the messages, stories, photos, or other content you send us, for example through our contact form or by email (“Submissions”). By sending a Submission, you allow BPBH to use it to respond to you and to provide our services.

We will not publish your Submission or use it to promote BPBH, for example as a testimonial, photo, or personal story, without asking your permission first. For anyone under 18, we also need permission from a parent or guardian.

You confirm that you have the right to share each Submission and that it does not break these Terms. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

6. BPBH’s content and names

The Website and its content, including text, graphics, logos, artwork, videos, curriculum, and program materials, belong to BPBH or to our partners and licensors, who have given us permission to use them. The Be Peace – Be Hope name and logo belong to BPBH.

You may view, download, and share Website content for personal, educational, or non-commercial use, as long as you credit BPBH and do not change it. Any other use, including commercial use or using our names or logos in a way that suggests we endorse you, needs our written permission.

7. Donations

Donations are processed on separate secure pages by third-party payment platforms: Stripe, Give Lively, or PayPal, depending on which donation link you use. Each platform’s own terms and privacy policy apply to your payment. We do not receive or store your full card number.

  • You confirm that you are authorized to use the payment method you provide. Donors under 18 need a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
  • We will send a receipt to the email address you provide. BPBH is a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 93-4865528), so donations may be tax-deductible as allowed by law. Please check with your tax advisor.
  • Unless you tell us otherwise, your donation supports BPBH’s mission where it is most needed. If you ask that your gift support a specific program and we accept that request, we will use it for that purpose. If that becomes impossible, we will contact you about other options.
  • Donations are generally final. If you believe a donation was made in error, contact info@bepeacebehope.org within 30 days and we will review your request.

8. Not an emergency service

The Website shares information about our programs and resources. It is not a crisis, medical, or counseling service, and messages sent through the Website are not monitored around the clock.

If you or someone you know is in danger or thinking about suicide:

  • In the United States: Call 911 for emergencies, or call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (24/7).
  • In France: Call 112 for emergencies, or 3114, the free national suicide prevention line (24/7).

The Website links to or uses services we do not operate, such as Stripe, Give Lively, and PayPal (donations), Google (reCAPTCHA and analytics), YouTube (videos), interactive content providers such as Genially, social media platforms, and partner websites such as esperhope.org. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Notice, linked at the bottom of every page, explains what information we collect through the Website, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have, including the extra protections we apply to children and young people.

11. Disclaimers and limits of liability

We work hard to keep the Website accurate and available, but we provide it “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, BPBH does not promise that the Website will always be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses that come from using it. Information on the Website is for general educational purposes and is not professional, medical, or legal advice.

To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover BPBH’s reasonable costs if a claim is brought against us because you broke these Terms or misused the Website.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited by law, including consumer rights in your country of residence.

12. Other terms and contact

Ending access. We may suspend or end your access to the Website if you break these Terms. Sections 5, 6, 11, and 12 continue to apply after that.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas, unless the law of your country gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

Changes. We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If a change is important, we will add a notice on the Website. Continuing to use the Website after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Whole agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Notice are the full agreement between you and BPBH about the Website. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
